Breast Lift | Mastopexy | Auburn, AL
Many women notice changes in the shape and position of their breasts over time. These changes can be accelerated following childbirth and weight fluctuations. Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, is a procedure that is performed to restore a more youthful shape and position of your breasts. A mastopexy does not increase the volume of your breasts, but can be combined with an augmentation to improve the shape, position, projection, volume and firmness of your breasts.
Who is a good candidate for a breast lift?
- Someone with low breast position or sagging breasts desiring a more youthful look
- Someone with nipple position facing downward
- Someone with asymmetrical breasts seeking better symmetry
- Non-smoker
- Healthy individual
- Realistic goals and expectations
What can I expect from a consultation?
At East Alabama Plastic Surgery we believe you should be well informed about any procedure you are considering. During your breast lift consultation, you will discuss your concerns, and we will provide you with up to date information about the procedure. Many different types of breast lift techniques are performed, and your surgeon will discuss the options with you in detail. The plan will be individualized based on breast size, previous scars, implants, and degree of skin excess.
What to expect the day of surgery?
Many breast surgeries can be performed in our AAAASF Accredited Office Surgery Center. On the day of surgery, your surgeon will make some marks on you in the preoperative holding area and confirm the surgery details with you. The surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure and usually lasts between two and three hours.
What is the typical recovery?
Initial healing takes between seven to fourteen days. Many women who work outside the home will return to work within a couple of days. You will be instructed to wear a supportive bra and avoid high impact activities for up to four weeks. Noticeable results are seen immediately, but the final result can take several months.
