Liposuction | Auburn, AL
Some areas of the body are difficult or impossible to improve with diet and exercise alone. Even men and women who lead very healthy lifestyles can have local areas of fat that will not go away. Fortunately, liposuction is one of the many tools that plastic surgeons have to sculpt, shape and reduce the amount of fat in the targeted areas.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction addresses localized areas of adiposity with the help of long instruments called cannulas. These cannulas are introduced through small incisions in the skin and used to remove the deep fat. The most common treated areas are the abdomen, “love handles”, thighs, arms, and back. The skin is expected to tighten down or contract after the fat is removed. Not everyone is a good candidate for liposuction, and only your plastic surgeon can tell you if you are a good candidate. Liposuction is not a weight loss tool and does not cure cellulite.
What is Lipo 360?
Lipo 360 is a liposuction procedure that targets the front and back of the torso to achieve improved contour around your waist. Removing fat around your entire torso allows the skin to contract circumferentially. The procedure is outpatient and done under anesthesia.
Who is a good candidate for liposuction?
- Women or men with localized excess fat and good skin quality
- Someone near their ideal body weight
- Healthy individuals
- Non-smokers
- Persons with realistic expectations
What can I expect from a consultation from Dr. Aquadro?
At East Alabama Plastic Surgery we feel you should be well informed about any procedure you are considering. At your initial consult, Dr. Aquadro will discuss your concerns and goals. He will discuss the different options for improvement and recommend a surgical plan. If you are a good candidate, Dr. Aquadro will explain the surgical procedure, what to expect before and after surgery, and the likely postoperative course. You will have a chance to ask questions about the procedure. When you leave East Alabama Plastic Surgery, we want you to feel comfortable about every aspect of the process.
What to expect the day of surgery?
On the day of surgery, Dr. Aquadro will make some marks and confirm the details of the procedure with you in the preoperative area. The surgery time will vary based on the size and number of treatment areas. You will be provided a compression garment, and you will go home the same day.
What is the typical recovery?
Liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure and the recovery is generally quite fast. Most people are back to work within a few days. You are asked to avoid sweaty exercise for two to four weeks depending on the treatment area.
When will I see results?
You will notice immediate improvement after surgery, but the final result will not be evident for several months. A healthy lifestyle will help to maintain the final result in the future.
