Laser Skin Resurfacing | Auburn, AL
CO2 fractional laser resurfacing is used for skin rejuvenation. Traditionally CO2 lasers would vaporize the entire outer layer of the skin. This resulted in significant downtime and prolonged redness. The DEKA DOT SmartXide laser uses a ‘dot’ pattern to create thousands of microscopic perforations in skin while leaving the area around the ‘dot’ intact. This fractionated treatment allows the ‘dot’ area to heal from the intact edges. As a result, the downtime and redness is significantly reduced. The DOT fractionated laser resurfacing procedure is safer, quicker and better tolerated by patients. Sometimes, however, your surgeon may elect to perform a “full-field” ablation procedure. The benefits and risks of full-field ablation will be discussed at your consultation.

What can I expect after a SmartXide DOT CO2 laser treatment?
The procedure is customized to each individual patient. Depending on the areas treated and the depth of treatment, the downtime will vary significantly. It can vary from slight redness for about 24 hours to redness that lasts up to two weeks. Our surgeons will discuss your goals in depth during the consultation and formulate an individualized plan to address your concerns.
How long does a treatment take?
Most treatments can be performed in 30 to 60 minutes.
Is CO2 fractional laser resurfacing safe?
All procedures have risks. Fractionated laser treatments have less risks than traditional non-fractionated laser treatments because only a portion of the skin is treated at any given time. This allows the surrounding healthy skin to provide rapid healing to the treated areas. The procedure can be performed with no sedation or local sedation for targeted areas. General anesthesia may be recommended for patient comfort in some procedures.
