Hyaluronic Acid Fillers | Auburn, AL
As our skin ages, the collagen and elastin in the dermis becomes damaged and thinner. We also lose subcutaneous volume of fat and bone in our faces. As a result the signs of aging such as wrinkles, bags under the eyes, deflated appearing cheeks, thin lips, jowling and loss of jaw line begin to appear. As a plastic surgeon, Dr. Aquadro can address each of the three main causes of an aged appearing face—skin damage, loss of volume, and laxity. Fortunately, soft tissue fillers such as Juvederm ® and Restylane ® are available to replenish volume quickly and with minimal downtime.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 4.8 million soft tissue filler procedures were performed in the United States in 2022. The only procedure more popular was botox (botulinum toxin type A).
How are Soft Tissue Fillers used?
Juvederm ® and Restylane ® are injected as small aliquots into areas that are lacking volume. Because these products are a clear gel, they can be injected into the deep layer of the skin to produce immediate volume restoration and correction of fine wrinkles. They can also be used to augment the lips to plump and/or enlarge the lips. Restylane Lyft®, Juvederm Ultra Plus ® and Juvederm Voluma are injected deeper to add additional volume.
